Mother's Day Out is a ministry of our church that reaches out to the community to serve young children and their families. Following in the ecumenical tradition of the Disciples of Christ, we accept and respect all people of differing faiths and beliefs. Edmond Trinity Mother's Day Out welcomes all children and families with the firm belief that all people are children of God.
The curriculum of the program intends to teach age-appropriate skills for children ages two to five years. The program uses thematic units as developed and used by early childhood education theories. Children will learn basic skills that include areas of language, science, math, social sciences, art, music, and Physical Education. Because we are a ministry of the church, faith development and personal relationship with God are vital parts of our program. Children will learn basic bible stories and basic Christian beliefs and practices. Age-appropriate bible-based education, activities, and chapel will be an important component of the curriculum.
It is the goal of Edmond Trinity Mother's Day Out to teach the whole child. All areas of child development will be attended to in this program: intellectual, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual. Each child is viewed as a special individual learning at different levels and rates; each child is viewed as a special gift from God.
By providing a safe, loving, nurturing, and accepting environment, we hope to help children grow to work for a world which is safe, loving, nurturing, and accepting. Our vision is to interact with children, their families, and the community by faithful example to build such a world.
Our mission is to serve children and their families by providing educational and faith opportunities among those who wish to follow the gospel in knowing Jesus took a little child in his arms and said: “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.” Mark 9:37
Enrollment is open to all children regardless of race, creed, heritage, culture, gender, ability, religion, or familial status. In order to ensure the safety of the children and staff, and provide a learning environment for all, any children who are unable to adjust to the program or adhere by program policies may be dismissed at the discretion of the director.
Children can enroll to attend four days a week or two days a week. The program begins at 9:00 am and is dismissed at 2:00 pm. Children may begin arriving at 8:50 but must be picked up by 2:00 pm or a late fee will be assessed at the rate of $1.00 per minute. The program operates during the regular school days of the Edmond public schools, and is closed on days that public school is out. Parents will not be charged for the days school is closed.
